James Cogan is the managing partner of the law firm of Cogan & Partners LLP based in the Firm's Houston office. 

James currently concentrates his practice on international and domestic   oil and gas transactions.  Recent work has involved acquisition of working interests in leases of the Deepwater Gulf of Mexico, together with work on various agreements relating to operations under the leases, including Joint Operating, Construction and Use, Gathering, Transportation and Confidentiality Agreements.  Prior to joining Cogan & Partners, James focused his practice on estate planning and representing closely held companies with business transactions and succession planning.

James is a member of the American and Houston Bar Associations and the State Bar of Texas.  In law school, James was an active contributor to the Texas International Law Journal.
